Important: WinGuardian does not use any server. Your data is never transferred over the internet. All processing and storage happen entirely on your computer.
1. Data collection and transmission
WinGuardian is a fully local application. It does not connect to any remote server for its core functionality. We do not collect, store, or transmit your personal data, backup content, file hashes, registry snapshots, or any other user data over the internet.
2. Where your data stays
All data created or used by WinGuardian remains on your device:
Backups and encrypted archives are stored only where you choose (local drives or network paths you control).
Configuration, baselines, and logs are stored locally on the machine where WinGuardian is installed.
No telemetry, analytics, or usage data are sent to us or any third party.
3. Optional network use
If you configure backups to a network path (e.g. NAS or file share), data is transferred only between your computer and that destination under your control. WinGuardian does not send data to the internet or to our servers.
4. License activation
If you purchase a license, activation may involve a one-time communication to validate your license key. Only the information necessary for activation (e.g. license key, machine identifier) may be used for that purpose. No backup or file content is involved.
5. Updates
When you check for or download updates, your browser or installer may connect to the update source (e.g. GitHub Releases). That is a standard update mechanism and does not send your personal or backup data.
